Cancellation
A deposit of half of your total stay is due at the time of booking. The second half of your stay is to be paid upon arrival.
If you cancel more than 7 days from your reservation date, you receive no penalty and we will refund your full deposit. If you cancel less than a week from your check-in date we will keep the deposit. If you cancel within 24 hours, then you will be charged the remaining amount of your stay. The cancellation policy for stays of more than 5 rooms and/or more than 5 nights are subject to staff discretion, on a case-by-case basis.
We understand that life happens. As a very small business, we cannot keep up with demand, which means we take our reservations very seriously. Still, we also work with our guests because we know that canceling a trip to Fishtown and Leelanau County is never the ideal outcome. We know life is chaos. We’ll do our best to work with you if you do your best to work with us and give us the maximum time to rebook.
Pet-friendly
WE ARE PET-FRIENDLY! We love our furry guests. We only ask for a $30/night charge and that the pet not be left alone in the room (barking/potty habits can upset other guests and damage our space). Unfortunately, you’re no longer likely to find Bear in the office as he’s the emotional support dog to our other dog Charlie who is too anxious for the lodge.
Feel free to ask at the front desk for other local pet-friendly places so no one has to adventure solo!
Minimum nights per stay
We have a two-night minimum. In our apartments, we have a three-night minimum. There are a select few circumstances that allow us to accommodate a one-night stay, but those are scarce. Assume we cannot accommodate your one-night stay, but, just between us, a polite call or email to the front desk rarely hurts.
We have a small staff and this policy allows us to thrive and stay energized throughout our whole season. It also affords you the space to really settle in to enjoy your stay.
We don’t provide stay-over service for reservations shorter than four days. Occupied rooms are usually entered only upon request (is your toilet running or something?). We have a system set up to replace used towels with fresh towels, as well as any other hotel-provided products. There is an outdoor closet with everything you might need available and stocked 24/7.
Not only will our staff will not be in your space, you still have every available option for a clean and fresh room for the full duration of your stay. The cleanliness and comfort of your visit are our top priorities.
stay-overs
Absolutely no smoking in the rooms. A fine of $200 is charged to guests who smoke in rooms. Smoking on the premises is allowed, but please be courteous of wind blowing smoke into rooms.
smoking
Our staff works incredibly hard, and as owners, Cooper and Emily are very protective of them. We are a small, human-run business — and like anyone, we occasionally make mistakes. A little kindness and patience truly go a long way. We promise we care deeply about your experience and are just as invested as you are in making your stay wonderful.
Please note that behavior like smoking in rooms, lost keys, damage to furniture or linens, and late check-outs may result in charges. These situations are handled by staff on a case-by-case basis and at their discretion.
Thank you for respecting our team and our property.
general rudeness fee
Check-in is 3 pm. However, we understand that vacation starts when you first unlock your room, so as soon as your room is ready we’re happy to get you into it! If you’re in the area, just pop in or call to see if your room is ready.
Check-out is at 11 am. We discourage late check-outs to ensure our small staff of housekeepers have enough time to give all the rooms the time they deserve before our daily arrivals.
Check-in/Check-out
Our room keys were hand made by a local company (Lumber and Hide) and we will have to charge $75/key for lost or borrowed keys.
